Smart Bottoms 3.1 Cloth Diapers || First Impressions

Where are my cloth diapering mommas at?!

As a new mom, of a 6 (almost 7) week old newborn, I am quickly learning the ins and outs of cloth diapering.  (There is ALOT to learn!) Thanks to the Facebook group Cloth Diapering (and more) with Kelly's Closet & Diaper Shops I have been able to ask TONS of questions and learn about all the different brands, styles, fits, etc of cloth diapers.  If you are interested in cloth diapering, I highly recommend this group! (They are affiliated with KellysCloset.com which is where I purchase all my diapers)

We originally decided to cloth diaper long before Otto was here and I was 100% convinced we would do only prefolds and covers so that's what I stocked up on. Now, don't get me wrong, I do like the prefolds and covers (And plan to have them on hand for laundry day!) but when I tried Smart Bottoms I was so impressed that my heart has been changed!

The Smart Bottoms 3.1 AIO (All-in-One) diaper is 100% organic cotton and fits babies 10-35lbs. (on average) My little guy, is approximately 10lbs and it's just starting to fit him great!

Here's my initial thoughts on this diaper:

  • Super soft {thanks to the organic cotton!}
  • Trim fit (even on the smallest size)
  • No leg gaps!
  • Takes quite a long time to prep which is frustrating (6-8 washes)
  • One of the most expensive cloth diapers on the market (retails for $29.00)
  • LOCAL to Grand Rapids, MI! <-- This was honestly the biggest selling point for me. #LocalFirst
Smallest Setting
Cute bum!
Insert - can be folded to customize need.
10 super absorbent layers

**Above diaper is in the color Juliet

We have been using these diapers for few days now and will report back after longer trial and error!

Would you like to see more posts about cloth diapering? Let me know!

I am contemplating getting a Smart Bottoms newborn diaper (called Born Smart) and a cover (called Too Smart Cover) to try.  If I decide these are the diapers for us, I will be destashing all my others! We'll see!

Happy Cloth Diapering, friends!

*I have purchased all diapers with my own money and all opinions are my own <3
