Why Smoothies are the BEST way to transition to an {animal-free} diet.
Who here loves smoothies? *Raises hand* What's your favorite smoothie combination?!
PS: One of my go-to smoothie recipes is at the bottom of this page!
I often get asked, "how did you transition to a plant-based diet?" or "what is the best way to transition to a plant-based diet?"
Friends, I have the worlds EASIEST answer... SMOOTHIES!
Maybe you already drink them on the occasion or maybe everyday - either way, they are so easy to incorporate and I HIGHLY recommend it. I mean, you guys... smoothies are like...the gateway drug to plant-based eating. haha
Why Smoothies are the BEST way to transition to an {animal-free} diet.
- Smoothies are high in plant-based nutrition as they are typically made up of mostly (or all) fruits and vegetables.
- Smoothies are filling and if you make a large enough one, can replace a meal. {breakfast anyone?!}
- They are easy to make on the fly OR prep long in advance.
- They are portable, making it easy for the morning commute, road trip, or trip to the beach.
- Smoothies are sweet and delicious! Yes, even my green smoothies can be sweet and delicious.
- You can HIDE superfoods in your smoothies like ground hemp/flax seeds, chia seed, spirulina, etc.
Not only will smoothies make transitioning to plant-based easier, you will begin to see the benefits of living plant-based by making this small change/addition to your diet. From here you can continue with other plant-based changes. (I will talk about those in another post, coming soon!)
So if you are on the mission to transition to a more plant-based or a COMPLETE plant-based diet, smoothies are a great place to start. (And a great staple to have in your diet)

Pineapple Mango Bliss
- 1/2 cup pineapple
- 1 cup mango
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 banana
- 1 Tbs chia seeds, ground hemp seeds, or ground flax seeds *optional
Blend with water or non-dairy milk until you reach your desired consistency.
TIP: I always use frozen fruit because it gives a creamier consistency. It is recommended that you use at minimum frozen mango or frozen banana in this recipe. ♥
